DIY Project: Self Watering Bowl For Pets
April 13, 2023In this video, Anthony repurposes parts from a broken grill to create a self-watering bowl for his dogs. He used a submersible pump and stainless steel to create a top for the bowl. The creator encounters some challenges during the process, but ultimately succeeds in creating a functional and unique water bowl. The video showcases the creator's welding and plasma cutting skills, as well as their determination to do things right.
1. Materials:
Stainless Steel Salvaged from Grill
Door Trim Guard
Clear Silicon Sealant
Fish Tank Pump
1⁄4” Silicon hose
1⁄4” Barb Fitting
3⁄8” Barb fitting
2. Equipment:
Grinder

3. Shielding Gas: 100% Argon
4. Filler metal: 308L 1/16”
5. Tungsten: 2% Thoriated 1/16”
6. Produce:
6.1 Prepare the pump for the fishbowl by making adjustments to the submersible pump and creating a top for it. (3:02)
6.2 Disassemble the grill and salvage the stainless steel parts. (4:32)
6.3 Cut and weld the stainless steel parts together to form a solid sheet for the top of the self-watering bowl. (6:55)
6.4 Grind and clean the sheet to prepare for cutting a circle.
6.5 Use a plasma cutter to cut the circle for the bowl. (11:33)
6.6 Finish welding the bowl and clean up any edges. (clean up any edges: 12:32, welding the bowl: 13:16)
6.7 Set up the bowl for the dogs to use. (14:39)
